Massachusetts: Bill Would Offer Tax Breaks for E-Prescribers

Physicians in Massachusetts will have one more reason to throw away their paper prescription pads if the state legislature passes a bill that provides tax incentives for e-prescribing. Under the bill, corporations with licensed physicians could take deductions for the cost of e-prescribing technology and associated infrastructure, labor and installation expenses.
Massachusetts named top state for e-prescribing

Massachusetts has been named the top e-prescribing state for the second year in a row by Surescripts, the Virginia-based electronic prescribing network. Other states listed as top prescribers in 2008 included Rhode Island, Michigan, Nevada, Delaware, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maine and Arizona. The five "most improved" states were Vermont, Tennessee, Kansas, Illinois and Missouri.
