HIE Will Go Live This Fall
Posted: June 11 2009
A new health information exchange in Rhode Island called "currentcare" will allow patients to share their health information, lab data and medical history with health care providers. Physician offices don't need an interoperable electronic health record system to participate in the HIE, which is set to go live this fall. Instead, they will connect directly to a central database that stores test results from three different labs and medication histories from retail pharmacies statewide.
