Governor Signs Telemedicine Bill

Health care plans in Oregon must provide coverage for telemedicine services under Senate Bill 24a, recently signed into law by Governor Ted Kulongoski. The law requires health plans to provide coverage of medically necessary, evidence-based telemedicine services that could include consultations with specialists in distant cities.

Oregon Bills Would Improve Health Care

The Oregon Legislature is considering a number of bills aimed at improving health care and reducing costs. One bill would establish the first electronic registry to document people's wishes for end-of-life care. Another bill would establish a council to help health care providers convert to electronic health records. A third bill would require the state to establish a database to document the size and needs of Oregon's health care workforce.
