House Passes EHR Bill with Privacy Provisions

The New Mexico House of Representatives recently passed a bill with provisions that aim to protect the security and privacy of electronic health records (EHRs). The bill clarifies individual rights regarding disclosure of information contained in EHRs and establishes EHRs as the legal equivalent of existing non-electronic medical records.
