Insurance Companies Must Offer EHR Incentives
Posted: May 19 2009
Maryland recently became the first state in the nation to require that private insurance companies offer doctors financial incentives to adopt electronic health records. Doctors who do not bring an electronic medical records system on line by 2015 could face penalties. The bill also requires the state to develop a health information exchange that will link all of Maryland's physicians, hospitals, medical laboratories and pharmacies.
