Louisville Exchange Will Create EHR Banking System

The Louisville Health Information Exchange (LouHIE) plans to create a free health record banking system that will be available to all 1.2 million residents living in and around Louisville. The LouHIE initiative will enable members to store and manage their patient data in a private and secure personal health record bank. Each bank account will contain an electronic copy of an individual's health record, which would be controlled by the individual via the Internet.

Kentucky: Governor Creates E-Health Office

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) recently created the Governor's Office of Electronic Health Information within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. The office will allow the state to access stimulus funds to support health information technology.
